It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
